World of Warcraft Classic, 20th Anniversary Edition has now launched. Of course, WoW Classic itself launched in 2019, but this new launch is another chance to get into Classic once again with a fresh server and a return to the beginning.
The 20th anniversary naming is, of course, to coincide with the overall World of Warcraft anniversary this year. To make things special, members of the Blizzard Game Masters team will be available in the Anniversary Edition realms, to help everyone get started and enjoy the beginning of another beginning.
Since there are some who missed the original Classic launch, or even never started in WoW at all until after it was already running, this does make sense to run. Fresh Start servers are popular across a number of games, and there's an attraction to having a level playing field with a completely fresh economy.
Choose the anniversary realm that works for you, whether PvE, PvP, or Hardcore. If you choose PvE or PvP servers, the realm type is final. If you roll on a Hardcore server, you can move to non-Hardcore if you choose. Those servers don’t progress to The Burning Crusade Classic, so that’s something to keep in mind if you're going all out on the challenge. On PvE and PvP servers, those updates will roll in.
As with other Classic releases and updates, there are some changes, including the addition of helpful features and balance changes that originally came later. This means things like the PVP Honor ranking system, the Chronoboon Displacer, and the LFG tool, with a services chat where you can advertise your offerings. For Hardcore characters, you can also choose Self-Found if you really want to up the challenge.
