Stars Reach's Kickstarter is still in full swing, and the team behind the upcoming MMO is offering an incentive to those who might still be on the fence: a new cosmetic inspired by everyone's favorite Star Wars heroine.
While the new cosmetic isn't explicitly named after Princess Leia, the resemblance leaves no room for misinterpretation. Considering Playable Worlds' studio head is well known for his work on Star Wars Galaxies and, as has been mentioned quite a few times since the initial reveal, Stars Reach is a spiritual successor to Galaxies of sorts, so the new "Cinnamon Bun Hairstyle" is basically a Princess Leia cosmetic with a different name.
The new reward is being offered as an incentive to get more people to pledge to the Kickstarter, as it's aiming for a milestone target of 5000 backers. As of the writing of this piece, the Kickstarter itself has been fully funded thanks to the pledges of 3626 backers, so there's still a ways to go till the team hits this target, but it's well over halfway there already.
The new hairstyle is the first community goal for the Kickstarter, so it's fair to say this won't be the only one for prospective backers to hit up, especially if this proves successful. And if you're someone who doesn't particularly believe in backing a Kickstarter, rest assured that if the community campaign is successful, you'll still have access to the iconic hairdo.
As it stands now, Stars Reach has blown well past its initial $200K goal and has seen over half a million dollars pledged thus far, and there are still 15 days left on the Kickstarter. Koster and the team have maintained that this is meant to be a "Kickfinisher," a means to get development over the finish line after funding in the games industry has started to dry up, so in theory any funding from this point will only further help the studio keep on keeping on with development and push through into its Early Access release sometime down the road.
Since hitting the funding goal, Stars Reach has also hit some of its stretch goals, adding the Hansian species, new crafting customizations, Guild Alliances, and the Hyugon species, with the Fae species within reach if the Kickstarter reaches $600K raised.
