The Stars Reach Kickstarter campaign has ended, with Playable Worlds not only getting over $742,000 in pledges, but outside investment interest as well.
The pledges rolled in in the final 24 hours to tip the scales and unlock even more stretch goals and in game bonuses. For hitting 5,000 backers, the Cinnamon Bun hairstyle will be in-game for all. Additionally the Stokadi are the third race unlocked, and we get a new devblog about them. They’re inspired by vampires and come from Revenia, a homeworld covered in perpetual fog and plundered by oligarchs. They are still a work in progress, and we'll be hearing more about them.
The decision to open a Kickstarter campaign for the final stretch of a game like this, with an already-playable game and the foundation in place worked.
“Last week we accepted a first investment greater than the total dollars from the Kickstarter. Major investors, who also see this potential, are watching the Kickstarter as we speak to see how many players will invest at this very early stage,” the team says in an update.
It's still possible to pledge towards the game, and doing so will have a direct impact investment in Stars Reach.
