Playable Worlds has decided to delay the Stars Reach Kickstarter campaign launch “just a bit” in order to let more people into try out the game first.
The team announced the delay today and mentioned that their reasoning involved, mainly, wanting more people to get into and experience the game. Where many Kickstarter launches are for getting things off the ground or for early development, Stars Reach is already in a playable alpha state, so they're looking to build trust and to encourage more people to feel good about supporting the Kickstarter when it does open.
After all, tossing money to a crowdfunding campaign for an MMORPG has not always been the smoothest way to spend your cash. Even if you are a fan of the genre and you know that building these games is involved and takes a good amount of time, it's sometimes still hard to believe that the developers are going to complete a polished release. These days, we see a lot of Early Access releases met with a similar skepticism.
Playable Worlds is in a unique position since again, their game is already playable and many of the systems are there in a form, and they're looking to carry it over that finish line.

Their accomplished devs know MMOs , immersion, and the importance of community–including building that community.
By delaying the launch, they are also shoring up their ability to invite more testers to check out the game. They're doing three main things: sending out more invites, shoring up server infrastructure to handle more simultaneous players, and moving playtest schedules from once a week to daily.
If you want to preview Stars Reach and see what the team is building, they're letting more people in through a social media campaign effort. You'll have to follow the Kickstarter campaign page, take a screenshot showing that you're following, share that on social media, and take a screenshot of your social media post. Once you've done that, send both screenshots to the team and you should see an invite to the next session.
