Bethesda released the first major game update to Starfield in 2024 this week and it’s made some significant changes to the game, particularly when it comes to the Starfield’s visuals.
Patch 1.9.51 includes improvements to Starfield’s textures, lighting, and shadows as well as a slew of bug fixes targeted at some of the game’s most serious issues, including a nasty bug that caused saves to be corrupted. Players who have been subject to the asteroid distribution system will also no longer have to worry about picking up stray pet asteroids in their travels.
Bethesda had previously set a goal to stick to a roughly six week update cadence in 2024 and this latest update is hopefully the first of many. Players can expect to see Bethesda add “new ways of traveling” as part of this update schedule and, of course, the long awaited Creation Kit, which should hopefully unleash a new wave of creative mods for the game. There’s also the Shattered Space DLC which is set to arrive sometime this year, though we don’t have an official date for that just yet.
Starfield is available now on the Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC platforms.
