We’re all awaiting more details related to Starfield, the next, spacefaring RPG by Bethesda. Luckily a new series has just dropped on the official Bethesda Softworks channel showing of various locations, with developer commentary explaining why these locations are significant.

Starfield released an in-engine trailer earlier this year, which showed off what players can expect once they finally don their spacesuits and hop into the game. The trailer didn’t provide any details related to the scope of the universe you’ll be inhabiting. In the latest Location Insights series, Bethesda’s Design Director Emil Pagliarulo provides ample details of 3 locations that will be of importance in the game.

Akila is the capital of the Freestar Collective. The city houses many of those that believe in the Freestar way of life, which revolves around personal freedom. The city is constantly under attack by alien outsiders, and will certainly provide some exceptional stories related to that ongoing threat.

Neon is a “pleasure city” that undoubtedly houses many seedy characters and wild experiences. The city lies on the surface of an oceanic world, where a particular species of fish with psychotropic properties provides the city with a powerful drug that is only available on Neon.

Lastly, New Atlantis is the capital city of the United Colonies, which is the most powerful faction in the game, both politically and militarily. Players can expect to meet all kinds of races from across the galaxy here.

Starfield is currently slated for a release November 11th, 2022. The game will launch on Xbox and PC, with exclusivity to those two platforms. Back in June, Pete Hines apologized to PlayStation players for the Microsoft Exclusivity of the title, a move that many saw coming once Microsoft acquired the powerhouse studio.
