Star Wars: The Old Republic gets a year-end letter from Executive Producer Keith Kanneg with all of the things that the team added in 2024. Everything from new modes, an announcement and work on a Mac launcher, and a whole lot of modernization efforts are among the changes.

Sometimes when we look back, we don't necessarily think that much has changed, but for an older game like SWTOR. Not only have they accomplished a bunch of things this year, but it is the 13th anniversary, and the anniversary event is on now through January 3rd. Additionally, the Life Day event is also running and there's Double XP through January 2nd.

This year started off with an update that added the Date Night companions feature, along with a new Galactic Seasons schedule. More date night options were added later and more will continue to be added.

In May update 7.5 added a new spring seasonal event, the Basilisk Prototype Venture and new story content. Update 7.5 continues some of the game's modernization efforts, bringing new visual polish to locations like Hutta. Modernization has taken various forms, from an updated launcher to new graphics,  cloud-based servers and more as the team looks to take SWTOR into the future.

The most recent update, 7.6,  continues the modernization efforts to several new locations and character models this time. Locations that got an upgrade are Tython, Korriban, Hoth, and Ilum.

These are just some of the big changes, and there are more on the way. the dedicated Mac launcher is still in the works, having been moved, and there's an open beta right now to help the team finalize that release.

Finally, Kanneg  sends things off with a tiny tease of 2025.

In the first quarter of the year, the next Galactic Season will happen and seemingly add new life to something familiar.

“This one will be a fun one as we throw you into some content you may not have played in a bit.”

There will be a live stream early in the year to tell us what  they're currently cooking but we do get confirmation that more story chapters are on the way, and some new stuff too.
