This past weekend, Star Wars Celebration brought fans and creative talent to Japan (and gifts to claim). The Star Wars: The Old Republic team created a video featuring Narrative Director Ashley Ruhl that briefly introduced the 13-year old MMORPG and brought us very generally up to speed on Legacy of the Sith, before ending with a teaser for the story’s next steps. Darth Malgus, a familiar threat, pledges potentially unfamiliar chaos.
Indeed, the recap loosely notes where we are in Legacy of the Sith, with Twi’lek siblings, former Padawan Sa’har and Mandaloriian protege Ri’kan Kateen, who find themselves in opposing positions. Darth Malgus wants to destroy both the Republic and the Empire, and, while we have seen Malgus’ destructive powers before, this looks like another level of chaos.
The teaser that follows certainly promises something like that. In it, Malgus says,
"We allow corrupt doctrines to dictate the paths before us. No longer. A change is coming to the galaxy. Forged from pain, and rage, and sacrifice. My chains are broken. And now… …I will break them all.”
We’ll have to wait and see just what the Broadsword team has in store for us–and the galaxy. An Update 7.7 live stream is expected in early May.
