Coming As Part Of 7.4

Star Wars: The Old Republic has opened up its Public Test Server to 7.4 testing, and this week's test will include the changes coming to the Galactic Trade Network.

Update 7.4 was announced earlier this month, with Chains in the Dark bringing new story, bosses, a landing zone and more. One of the major changes coming with the update center on the Galactic Trade Network, which has seen an overhaul for SWTOR. The goal is to make the network more accessible to players over the long haul, and this first bout of testing on the GTN should start to help get it there.

The Broadsword team, which took over development on the MMO from BioWare earlier this year, stresses that this is very much still a "work-in-progress," but the team states in the PTR notes that it wanted to get testing into the hands of players as soon as they could to help get feedback while they still had time to incorporate it all.

While the GTN is due for the overhaul as part of SWTOR's 7.4 update, that doesn't mean everything is changing. Auction categories haven't been touched as of now, while the search functions that existed before are unchanged. However, the SWTOR devs detail a whole host of changes for testers to provide feedback on, such as Claiming getting its own window in the Galactic Trade Network, while clicking on an item will open up a new window showing each listing of that item. Also, buyers can rejoice knowing that they will now "always get the best available listing when you click purchase."

You can check out the full notes on the Star Wars The Old Republic forums. General 7.4 Chains in the Dark testing has been ongoing since last week, with content for the new update available to provide feedback on as well. The new update, which is slated to arrive sometime this year, brings players to a familiar place, Ord Mantell, complete with a new landing zone, Kessan's Landing.
