Star Wars: The Old Republics next update, 7.6, is coming tomorrow with some extended downtime. There’s also news on the in-development Mac launcher, as a new phase is opening.

The update is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 7:00 a.m. CT with five planned hours of downtime. While the update itself is a packed one, the extended downtime has been announced due to the fact that the developers are releasing inactive character names and anticipate a large number of those. Character rename tokens will get a 90% discount in the shop until December 17th, and character re-customization also gets a 90% discount through January 7th.

If you haven't logged in in a while and you're not a subscriber, you still seem to have a short period of time before tomorrow’s downtime to log in and keep your names. Otherwise, you’ll have to comb the galaxy for some new ideas.

When the update goes live, it will add a new story chapter, graphical modernization for several locations and character models (emphasizing heads), the Dynamic Encounters task system, a new lair boss, and even a new free hairstyle. There are also some new cosmetics, including a mount, inspired by the new Disney+series, Skeleton Crew. Locations getting spruced up this round are: Tython, Korriban, Hoth, and Ilum.

The native Mac launcher, which was supposed to release with this update,  but was later pushed back for additional work, is headed for a new phase. The team announced that, after the most recent technical test, the launcher would move to open beta in the coming weeks. Anyone who wants to help them get the launcher over the finish line and has a supported Mac can jump into the test then. You’ll need an M-Series Chipset Mac M1/M2. Pre-2020 models won’t work.

Full patch notes will go live later today to prep for 7.6.
