Star Wars: The Old Republic's next major update, Chains in the Dark, is slated to launch on December 5th, EA and Broadsword announced today.

Revealed back in OctoberSWTOR's 7.4 update brings new story to a galaxy far, far away, including a return to a familiar location for The Old Republic players: Ord Mantell. A new hub location, Kessan's Landing, is open for players to venture to in order to kick off the new content, which sees repeatable missions, reputation and achievements to earn, and more.

One of the major features coming with Star Wars: The Old Republic's 7.4 update is a revamp to the Galactic Trade Network. The idea is to make it more accessible overall to players, adding a new advanced search section and a better way to list items for sale. The team has been testing the GTN changes on the test server for the past month, and it looks like everything is finally ready for primetime.

SWTOR's Chains in the Dark update also brings some general changes, such as new cinematic lighting for characters, new Cartel Market updates, as well as a new boss, the FR3-D0M droid which will drop a unique mount if you're lucky.

Star Wars: The Old Republic has had an interesting year, with BioWare shedding the game to sister EA studio Broadsword, who are known for maintaining the current iteration of Ultima Online. This month SWTOR also opened a cloud-based Asia-Pacific server to serve players in the region. We looked at what 7.4 has on offer, with Kanishka detailing the five biggest things to get excited for when the update finally drops.
