Star Trek Online’s Research and Development Weekend event begins today.

The event is set to run through May 11 at 10a PST and is set to include a bunch of bonuses for your liking. Specifically, these bonuses are meant to help advance your Research and Development rankings. For example, all R&D packs throughout the event will dole out 25% more items.

Normal, Advanced, and Elite queue material reward packages will net you 25% more R&D materials, in addition to a chance drop of a Catalyst. Also on track for this weekend is a Bonus Commendation XP event which runs during the same time as the R&D event.

You’ll be able to earn 50% more Commendation XP by completing Duty Officer assignments. Additionally, note that Academy particle scanning events will be included as part of the Junior Officer Appreciation event. Here’s how the particle scanning nets out:

  • Scan a minimum of 5 traces to be rewarded a Common Duty Officer
  • Scan a minimum of 25 traces to be rewarded a Uncommon Duty Officer
  • Scan a minimum of 50 traces to be rewarded a Rare Duty Officer
  • Scan a minimum of 75 traces to be rewarded a Very Rare Duty Officer
