Star Trek Online’s new team from DECA Games and community manager have shared a message to the community committing to new content, including Episodes, like the one dropping tomorrow.
The team introduces themselves and their specialty: “At DECA Games, we focus on investing in and rejuvenating games that are in a mature stage of their lifecycle. DECA derives from decade, meaning that we aim not only to extend but also continue the lifecycle of games with dedicated playerbases.” STO is one of the games that DECA Games has been working to take over as primary developer, with Cryptic Studios more of a consulting role as part of a series of cost-cutting measures. We've already had a message from the Neverwinter team on their dedication to continuing development.
As part of the changes and new development team, they have expanded their numbers, taking on some new developers including long time Star Trek fans. “We are grateful for the knowledge and support Cryptic have given us, and more importantly, the weight of responsibility passed over to ensure we are delivering updates at the standard players expect and deserve,” they said.
Since there are still questions, they are planning an introductory stream and a Q&A session sometime in the near future. they're also looking to take a more active role on social media and in forums to answer questions more directly.
They've been working with Cryptic to transition development and so they are looking to continue the update cadences going forward, including coming out with new Episodes, TFOs, and Patrols, new ships, rewards, and other content. Whether that eases your mind as a Star Trek Online player, is up to you, but they are trying to turn the page and start this new chapter. The message from the community manager, Sunna, is also forward looking.
Tomorrow, there's a new Episode and they are already preparing for the next episode in this story arc. Also kicking off tomorrow is the 15th anniversary event on PC. Console celebrations will begin a little later, on March 11th.
