Star Trek Online: Unraveled is out now on PC, beginning a new season, with new story, new Task Force Operation, new patrols, and more.
The update, and the new episode, “Wish Upon a Star” are set after the conclusion of the Mirror Universe “Terran Gambit” arc. Things are relatively peaceful, it seems, and your captain will be going on a humanitarian mission with Admiral Kuumaarke, played by actress Kipleigh Brown, the latest Star Trek actor to reprise their role in Star Trek Online.
The mission is a scientific one, and your job is to stabilize the Na’kuhl sun. This might fit in with those peaceful times that everyone is looking for after that last arc, but this is the newest episode, and of course, it won’t go according to plan.
Your work is interrupted by the discovery of a transdimensional Reality Vortex, which is disrupting space-time across the Multiverse. This sets up the latest conflict–with the Tholians–who say that the use of time and dimensional travel has done damage. That damage created these vortices. So, now your mission has broadened up a bit.
There's a new event to progress through that will have a positive association with the Tholians if you meet some goals. Looming Threats could get you a Tholian themed space set.
Leviathan is the new Task Force Operation. With five players, you’ll play through a simulated trench run ‘what if?’ scenario based on “The Other” where the Terran Gambit arc had ended differently. Two new Patrols also debut with the update, and both are based on Terran Gambit. For the Patrols, they come in Hard mode this time as well.
Clearly, while Unraveled is set after that arc concluded, there’s much that is working on the learning from history, while also exploring what could have been. The Terran Gambit arc was a deep one in Star Trek Online, so it makes sense to explore from other sides after the fact, and Cryptic is doing just that here.
Unraveled is out now on PC and will be out on console soon. For more, head to Star Trek Online.
