The latest test for Star Resonance, formerly known as Blue Protocol, has wrapped up with several developments shared by the new developers Bokura. Driven by substantial player feedback from the latest test, the team has signaled that significant updates are on the horizon across various aspects of gameplay.
Blue Protocol is gone, but with Star Resonance picking up the pieces and pushing forward, there's a change the west might eventually see the game, albeit in a very different form. For starters, the user interface for both PC and mobile platforms has been revamped according to the briefings by the developers this week. PC users will find a familiar layout inspired by Blue Protocol, while mobile users will enjoy a more intuitive and accessible design. The in-game chat has also been streamlined, integrating social features smoothly into the gaming experience.
On the visual front, Star Resonance will see notable enhancements in environmental details, textures, shadows, and animation quality, designed to deliver a better overall experience. Additionally, loading times between major zones have been optimized to significantly improve performance, which is intended to make gameplay smoother on all devices.
Combat and narrative components are also on the list of enhancements the team plans to make. In the second briefing the developers state that they will be revamping some parts of the combat to fix the "poor combat feel". This will start with removing the "stuck player" problem allowing a smoother skill release. They will also cancel drop attacks and air attacks as they have often been known to interrupt the pace of combo attacks. This will change and be streamlined for a better experience.

Originally developed by Bandai Namco, Blue Protocol struggled to gain momentum before shutting down. Acquired by Bokura and rebranded as Star Resonance, the project now has a chance at a revival. Hopefully the team will make enough changes to entice players to give Star Resonance a real shot at becoming the kind of MMORPG that Blue Protocol failed to be.
