The Monthly Report for Star Citizen has dropped, as well as the newest “This Week in Star Citizen”, previewing tidbits of what’s to come in the still-in-early-access spaceship and space travel simulation RPG.
The monthly reports aim to provide an insight on what the team delivered in the month (or in this case, two) prior in order to continue the team’s transparency efforts. A lot of this month’s Monthly Update focuses on development 4.0 that was pushed, and in some cases is still being worked on. Tech took center stage in this particular report, and AI, which is more to say the automated systems for ship navigation, character, and mission behaviors, is heavily discussed.
The progress report notably doesn’t include updates on playability, but in the weekly update, the team promised that 4.0.1 will start the “first of many updates this year aimed at smashing bugs, improving quality of life, and strengthening the foundational Star Citizen experience.” Plus, the team teases an upcoming Free Fly event, though it’ll also bring the end of Save Stanton Chapter 1.
There’s also more coming up, including a new “short-form monthly series” called “Behind The Ships” that’ll preview an “upcoming industrial ship” from ISC set to premiere in 4.0.1. The Red Festival returns, too, to celebrate Lunar New Year.
It seems that the team has started honing in on the game's biggest talking points, including server meshing, stability, and a 1.0 release at all, as an effort to tighten up the ship amidst reports of studio-wide layoffs.
