Star Citizen backers will finally be able to get their hands on Alpha 3.3 now that the game's annual CitizenCon event has started. 3.3 brings a number of new features to Star Citizen including facial recognition so that a player's avatar mimics facial expressions and lips; the addition of AI enemies throughout the "ever-expanding Stanton System" and in missions; Object Container Streaming to increase framerates; and, lastly "numerous new ships and weapons".

Fans who would like to view the keynote address can create an RSI account, log in and view it for free. The keynote should be underway in the next few minutes and will last approximately two hours. You can check the full schedule of events on the Star Citizen Reddit.

Later in the convention, Chris Roberts will be touring the planet Hurston and its main city. He will also demonstrate in-game ship purchases using currency earned while playing. "This is a massive change in our business model and a key step towards making all ships earnable in-game".

We'll post the rebroadcast here when it is available later today.
