Still no roadmap for a roadmap

A new roadmap for Star Citizen’s 3.12 went up recently, but Squadron 42 is notably missing.

The roadmap, compiled on Reddit here in a more easily viewable format, cites several items for 3.12 for Q4 2020 including mystery armor, space station – refinery deck, station-based refining, weapon zeroing – TO, object push and pull, a brace of new Esperia ships, and multi-tool tractor beam.

Squadron 42 doesn’t appear on this roadmap, though Cloud Imperium Games did publish their usual monthly report. The monthly report looks like things like art, AI, animation, props, weapons, characters, cinematics, engineering and more. However, there doesn’t appear to be any dates or timeboxing around any of these items.

This follows continuing community frustration with the lack of any roadmaps for Squadron 42. Eventually, Cloud Imperium Games released an explanation as to why news of Squadron 42 has been delayed, citing video updates which weren’t up to snuff.

In that update, they basically promised a roadmap for a roadmap, but this has yet materialize:

  1. Give an explanation of the goals of our new Roadmap and what to expect from it
  2. Show a rough mockup of the proposed new Roadmap
  3. Share a work in progress version of the Roadmap for at least one of our core teams
  4. And then finally transition to this new Roadmap
