The latest Star Citizen roadmap roundup reveals some change in naming conventions, along with some updates on a few features.
First up, Alpha 4.0 and 4.1 have been renamed Alpha 3.10 and Alpha 3.11. The team provided the following explanation,
“Naming conventions have been updated for upcoming quarterly patches. Patch 2.0 introduced a universe, while 3.0 introduced explorable planetary bodies, so it only makes sense that 4.0 be reserved for a similar landmark moment, such as heading to a new system. For this reason, Alpha 4.0 and 4.1 have been renamed to Alpha 3.10 and 3.11 respectively.”
The NPC scheduler was touched on, where the original approach to this work has chanced some what. Therefore, the team removed this card from their roadmap temporarily. Weapon handling was also touched on, with the team citing that the actual scope of this piece has grown.
To that end, in order to give the team enough time to work on it, the deadline for this feature has been and the card itself has been removed temporarily. Other improvements were mentioned like Ocean Shader improvements. This specific card has moved into 3.10.
Additionally, the card for Shield System Tech Replacement has been removed from the roadmap temporarily due to the bandwidth of the VFX team at the moment.
