For the first time since November, Star Citizen is running its semi-regular Free Fly event starting this Thursday, April 17.
A Free Fly allows players to download and jump into Star Citizen with a basic ship; these ships are bought as a “pledge” for the ongoing early access game, and are essentially the entry ticket into the game. This particular new Free Fly comes in the wake of the Alpha 4.1 release, which arrived last week with a ton of new content and fixes.
The last Free Fly would have taken place during the Red Festival for Lunar New Year, but the developers cancelled it as they worked to fix stability issues. Before that, it was during IAE, which had a glitch that made the ship expo run twice as fast.
Star Citizen’s team seems happy enough with the release of 4.1 that not only is the Free Fly coming back, they’re already thick into testing with 4.1.1 with their exclusive Evocati playtesters. Plus, on Thursday as well, they’re kicking off their Spring Promotion and showing off new hairstyles, according to the “This Week in Star Citizen” blog post.
