Star Citizen Crosses the $800 Million Crowdfunding Line

Star Citizen has hit a new crowdfunding milestone: $800 million.

Preceding the new funding mark, the team just released its Alpha 4.1 update, and it's another significant one that adds new content, revamps and adds to deepen customization, and offers more to do. 

Of this writing, the total actually stands at over $802 million. Back in December, they crossed the 750 million mark and based on the official funding stats page, we can see the trends in recent weeks. 

The studio has gone through several rounds of layoffs and moves to bring relevant teams in closer proximity,  and focusing on delivering its planned launch. 

Just this week, Cloud imperium announced that there would be no in-person CitizenCon this fall. There will be a digital event and announcements live streamed globally, but it takes the logistics and efforts of organizing a huge in person event off of the team’s shoulders.
