Cloud Imperium Games has reached a new milestone with the release of Star Citizen Alpha 3.19: Call to Adventure. The latest update adds new component salvage and salvage missions, a new PvP event, and an improved New Player Experience.
For a while, Star Citizen has been receiving new features and ways that expand what to do in the world, along with some upgrades to stability and persistence in order to accommodate more players per server. This new update continues that development plan, A series of backend upgrades to increase stability and item persistence in the world.
There's also an improved New Player Experience in Area18 that includes a new guided mission to welcome new players, with tutorials on how to do things like how to get around on foot in the world, using the mobiGlas, and of course, how to fly a ship in different environments.
Other additions in the update include enhancements and improvements to the mining experience, a clearer mining UI and updated tools. Changes also mean that in order to get a good return on your work, you will need to travel around and take on potential risks.
In addition to these updates, there's also new salvage to take advantage of. The update adds component salvage, where you can use a handheld tractor beam to remove various items from abandoned ships to use or sell for scrap. Thanks to those persistence upgrades, this also lays the foundation for more salvage options that will release later. With those salvage additions, there are also new salvage missions.
Another big part of the update is a player-driven PVP event at Ghost Hollow. You'll have to activate terminals that will generate UEC while they are active. when you do that, the terminals broadcast their status to the server, so this means that there will be AI guards and any players who might be nearby going to try and claim that uec, bringing on the competition.
