It won’t be much longer for players looking forward to getting their hands on Visions of Mana, Square Enix’s first new mainline entry to the venerable Mana JRPG series since 2006.
Earlier this week, Square Enix announced that Visions of Mana will release on August 29, 2024 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC. A new trailer was released to accompany the announcement.
In Visions of Mana, players will take on the role of Val, from the Fire Village of Tianeea. During a quadrennial festival at Val’s village, a Faerie shows up to choose a member of the village as one fated to visit the Tree of Mana. Val’s childhood friend is selected and Val is entrusted with being her soul guard and given the task to join her on her journey to the Tree of Mana.
Mana fans have enjoyed a resurgence in the series over the past couple of years, with remakes of Adventures of Mana, Secret of Mana, and Trials of Mana. A new mainline game may give the series an even bigger boost, along the lines Dragon Quest received when Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age released back in 2017.
