Chapter 2: The Fracture for Spellbreak is now live across PC, Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. Curious about some details? Thinking about diving in and checking it out? We’ve got you covered.
The big new feature in this update is the Dominion mode. This is effectively a 5v5 mode where you fight over control points. This mode is pretty much designed to show off what Spellbreak has done well, and that’s its combat. In fact, we wrote up an impressions piece on this mode earlier this month. You can take a gander over here.
Speaking about the new mode in a press release, CEO Seth Sivak expanded,
“With the introduction of Leagues as part of the new Dominion game mode, the competition in Spellbreak has never been fiercer. Chapter 2: The Fracture continues our unique blend of storytelling and gameplay, further expanding the world of Spellbreak and opening up new opportunities for players to connect.”
The new update will also continue the story first brought to bear in Chapter 1: The Spellstorm. It will run for 12 weeks and feature story-driven quests all backed by the combat typified with Spellbreak. In fact, if you missed Chapter 1, you can check out the animated trailer.
If you’re totally unfamiliar with Spellbreak, don’t worry. We have you covered. You can read our preview about the magic combat game here as we discuss the combat system, story beats, and more. Check out the trailer for Chapter 2 below.
