Shiro Games, the dev team behind titles like Dune: Spice Wars and Wartales, announced their upcoming “massively multiplayer management and crafting adventure”, Spacecraft. We got a reveal trailer and a little info on what to expect.
If you haven't guessed by the title, the game is set in space, and there will be crafting. Yes, that's a bit of an oversimplification. In the official announcement, we get a better description of how things will work. you get to explore the galaxy, extract and use resources, design and create your own ships and bases, automate those bases, learn a little bit on interplanetary logistics and how to manage. Additionally, trade and cooperation with other players will be part of the process.
While the initial announcement and reveal trailer don't tell us a whole lot, some of the ideas that they are grounding this in do come through. Things seem intentionally designed to offer something that people can work on together and cooperate. They are going for massively multiplayer and open world, it seems. Exploration is sure a word, but let’s see where we can explore, how, and what the limits might be. When it comes to space exploration, we'll need to see exactly how big and expansive these galaxies to explore and planets to build upon are.
We see a lot of shots of space and talk of survival and exploration, as well as making things. Spacecraft is headed into Early Access next year, and now that the game has been officially announced, we look forward to learning more.
