The team behind Soul Kingdoms recently shared a look back on development progress from 2017 to the present. Now, Power Proc Studios is back with a compilation of highlights from their most recent playtest, showing off PvP combat, spell effects, and classes from the late June playtest.
Soul Kingdoms’ combat is looking smooth, and the effects fit well. They decided to go with sharing the POVs of a healer, image, and a warrior to give a taste of what this combat would look and feel like as you go through it. All the video was taken from the June 20th playtest, and while there’s no dates yet for the next round, things do look to be shaping up well.
The game is described by its devs as a PvP RPG and MMO-lite, and they’ve worked to expand some of the options that we can expect in the eventual release, while still maintaining that PvP core. This new highlight reel does a good job of following up on that development progress video, particularly reflected in the spell effects, damage indicators, lighting, and the overall smoothness of the movement. If you’re PvPing, you need things to be responsive and clearly understandable.
The team shared the video on their Patreon account, which they opened last month, along with a thanks to the community. “We really enjoyed playing with you all again! Thank you to everyone that participated. We're really excited to hop in again once Doom Relic is ready for action! Until then, here are some highlights from the playtest to hold you over.”
There are more tests to come, and things look to be coming along well.
