Sony has announced Playstation Studios’ newest studio, teamLFG, which was spun off from Bungie and is at work on their first game.
The team originated at Bungie and later added team members from across the industry. The studio’s focus is on live-service titles, specifically “immersive multiplayer worlds propelled by action games that players can learn, play, and master for countless hours”, according to the official team announcement.
The studio is made up of a hybrid team with members across the US and Canada, with a HQ in Bellevue, Washington. TeamLFG has a mix of newcomers and vets of franchises like Destiny, Halo, League of Legends, Roblox, and Fortnite.
Their first project is an incubation project that will be fully revealed in the future. For now, we get some initial details.
“A team-based action game that draws inspiration from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, life sims, and frog-type games. Players will inhabit a lighthearted, comedic world set in brand-new, mythic, science-fantasy universe.” The mention of a fresh IP is certainly something to look out for, especially in a time in the industry when many companies cite a desire to plumb their most popular franchises for new projects.
Additionally, knowing teamLFG has experience on those previously mentioned franchises, their talk of action-based gameplay and social virtual worlds makes sense.
