Concord servers are officially offline. This news follows a disastrous launch for Sony’s premium first person hero shooter and a shock announcement that the game would be taken offline and refunds would be issued less than two weeks after the game’s release in late August.
Concord was developed over eight years by Firewalk Studios, the first title for the studio, which was formed in Bellevue, Washington in 2018. The title was originally developed collaboratively with parent company ProbablyMonsters until the studio was acquired by Sony in 2023.
Concord made headlines after its launch for its inability to even clear 1,000 concurrent users on Steam and reports that the title had only sold roughly 25,000 units and generated only around a million in revenue. By all accounts, things were not looking good for the game, but Sony’s announcement to take the game offline and issue refunds while it explores other options for the title only 12 days after the game’s release was a bombshell no one was expecting.
What comes next for Concord is hard to say, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the game returned as a free to play shooter as the $40 retail price was undoubtedly a huge barrier to its performance.
