The staff working on Everquest has posted a brief article today thanking several players for their assistance in tracking down players that are using exploits or "item duping" bugs, which if unchecked, can be disastrous to an MMORPG and it's economy. The Customer Service staff working for Everquest is diligently tracking down cheaters; those who cheat run the risk of getting their characters banned or deleted from Everquest. The staff wanted to point out that they may not be able to catch all forms of cheating, but will try their best to stop it at all costs, and you can help! By typing /bug you can send a report to the developers, detailing an incident where someone may be cheating. The Everquest Staff has stated that it's always a good idea to use /bug if you suspect foul play, never assume that the developers already know. In more or less their own words, it's better for them to recieve several reports on a potential game exploit then none.

It's clear from this news article that the Everquest Staff takes cheating very seriously. The bottom line: Don't cheat in Everquest, you can and probably will get caught.
