Sony has announced a PS5 event for June 4 at 1p PDT / 4p EDT where they’ll look at the “future of gaming.”

The event was announced in a blog post by Jim Ryan, President and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. It acknowledges the current pandemic and how that has changed the way these console announcements are usually done,

“There are few things as exciting as the launch of a new console. While this road to launch has been a bit…different, we are as thrilled as ever to bring you with us on this journey to redefine the future of videogames.”

As for the event itself, it will be longer than one hour in length, and will showcase large, small, and new studios as they show off a first look at games we can expect to play on PS5. This update is just one of a series of updates, with presumably more planned as we near the launch of the console this holiday.

The showcase will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. Be sure to tune in if interested.
