Social First, a Finnish developer working on its first project, a cross-platform social MMO, has announced a $4.2 million seed funding round to fund the game’s development.
In a press release announcing this new funding round, CEO Kim Soares doesn’t shy away from the studio’s ambition and belief in what they are creating.
“Games are fast becoming leading social platforms and for many in the younger generations they are indeed that already. We are not just developing a social game, we are creating a game that is also going to be the most important social platform for millions of players, where they can create meaningful relationships.”
The studio was founded back in 2021 and the money this time came from original funding partner Play Ventures, Crowdberry Capital, and Business Finland. Social First’s game Has been in early play testing and the team is citing positive feedback, including successful and promising engagement and retention metrics.
Social First’s focus, according to their website, is on “games with content and features that last for decades; engaging in player-driven economies and highly social experiences”. The team features industry veterans with experience across companies like Ubisoft, Paradox Interactive, and Nitro Games.
With plans to release their game in Early Access sometime later this year, and now this funding secured, it's likely that will be hearing much more about this game, including titles and more details, pretty soon.
