Albion Online has put its Rogue Frontier update on the test server ahead of its scheduled release next month.
Those on PC and Android can take part in the test. Rogue Frontier will add the new Smuggler’s Dens, which are a network of small safe zones in the Outlands that can also serve as bases for solo players (or in tiny groups). Yes, you can declare a Smuggler's Den your home, making sure you can travel there (without luggage) at any time, and you'll get a 2.5% buff to combat and Gathering Fame in the Outlands. There's even a safeguard intended to prevent guilds from using Smuggler’s Dens–there are 35 of them included in the test server patch–as staging grounds for large battles.
The dens are located on the minimap and there are two entrances for each one.If you want to enter, you cannot be in combat and you can enter and exit while mounted and also Mount up while you're still inside. All of these are meant to make things a little friendlier on the solo and very small group player. This gives solo players another option to stay safer in the Outlands and to take advantage of amenities like a bank, repair station, and Smuggler’s Marketplace. What this means is that Outlands banks no longer exist, and you should use the ones inside a Smuggler's Den. If you had items in an Outlands bank, you'll have to find them in a nearby Den.
Those Smuggler’s Marketplaces are on the test server to try and get to familiarize yourself with them. They’re independent from the Royal Continent marketplaces and connected to the Smuggler's Network. You might find something in a particular dens Marketplace that you're interested in, but note that there are distance fees when you complete orders remotely based on where in the Outlands the item was sold and where it was purchased. Ultimately, there's some strategy here to determine whether or not you should travel back to the Royal Continent for lower fees or if buying and selling right there is worth it.
The test build also includes Smugglers activities and rewards to discover, a new bank UI new dynamic resource hotspots, a new category for the Albion Journal which lets you hunt and log all the creatures you encounter, and much more.
Albion Online’s Rogue Frontier update is set for release February 3rd.
