Last week marked the launch of the Lost Ark open beta in South Korea, but it's not gone quite as smoothly as Smilegate may have wished. As one of the more keenly anticipated titles, it comes as no surprise that players flooded in both from South Korea, but also a tsunami of players from China that caused server issues and more. To address player concerns, the team took to a Q&A (thanks, MMOCulture!) to answer the most pressing questions from the community.
Here are some key take-aways:
- concurrent numbers of players have been at and over 250,000 and continues to increase
- new servers have been added as quickly as possible
- overseas access is being actively blocked though players from China "are still trying to connect in abnormal ways". The issue is being addressed
- no compensation is planned for Korean players unable to connect
