John Smedley is ready to reveal what he's been up to for the past several months after leaving Daybreak Game Company last summer. He has formed a new studio called Pixelmage Games that is already hard at work on Hero's Song, a 2D pixel art action RPG. Pixelmage has already raised over $1M in private investor funding and is hoping to raise an additional $800,000 via a KickStarter campaign to complete development on Hero's Song.
Smedley and team have indicated that Hero's Song will be released in October 2016, just nine months from now. It is particularly interesting that best-selling author Patrick Rothfuss (The Name of the Wind series) is involved in the process. He has said that he's "excited to be able to show people what we've come up with."
