Slay the Spire 2 is inching closer to its 2025 early access release, and so the team at MegaCrit has dropped a new gameplay trailer during The Game Awards Preshow.
The sequel to the popular roguelike card battler was announced earlier this year with an animated reveal trailer. There’ll be new characters to play (though RIP to our boy Defect) and slick new modern graphics.
Slay the Spire 2 touts being entirely rebuilt from scratch in a new game engine, as opposed to Unity. Plus, on top of what seems to be the usual deckbuilding gameplay, according to the Steam page, there’ll be “expanded moddability” and “new ways to play”—though we’re still not exactly sure what the latter means yet.
There’s a bit of the new look and vibes to come in the trailer that premiered during TGA’s Preshow—any fans planning on returning to play (and drop hundreds or thousands of hours on it)?
