Sky: Children of the Light is finally making its way to PC today via Steam Early Access. Along with the arrival, thatgamecompany is marking the release by adding some new cosmpetics, including a formerly PlayStation-exclusive Journey pack.
The free to play game becomes available today at 10am PT/ 1pm ET, with cross-play and cross-progression. The team chose to release it on PC via Steam Early Access in order to continue improving the PC experience. What this means is they will add a full suite of Steam PC features like Steam friends list integration, achievements, support for remote play. Additionally, while Sky on PC releases in 4K, additional improvements like HDR and VRR support are on their list.
The cooperative MMO is set to mark its 5th anniversary and already has an active community across Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 and 5, so bringing it to PC was a no-brainer. Developer thatgamecompany became widely known for Journey, and with the Steam launch, there is a special Journey cosmetics pack that was previously only on PlayStation. The pack will be available across all platforms and on Steam at an 85% discount from now through April 17th.
The Steam launch happens ahead of a brand new season set to begin next week. The Season of Nesting will focus on adding personal home spaces that players can design, furnish, and even invite friends over for social gatherings or even hosting their own events. Aviary Village will get a new furniture shop, and there will be new decor and new tools to customize your space. Season Pass holders will get access to two bonuses, but everyone can create their own personal Nest after taking on seasonal quests to unlock the feature. It will be yours to decorate and you can set it to private mode or you can invite friends over.
With the initial PC launch behind them, the Season of Nesting will begin on April 15th and run through June 30th. Personal customizable home spaces have been a long-standing community request, and now the Sky community is growing once again at just the right time to add such a big new feature.
