Will we face death or the high seas? Or both? When World of Warcraft’s roadmap was included to update 10.2.6, fans were left wondering about one specific symbol. Bannered literally onto the timeline for that particular patch is a black flag with a skull and bones—and nothing else.
However, now, Blizzard has given a vague announcement that there’ll be a new limited-time event for this particular update: “Mark your calendar for March 19 when the 10.2.6 content update goes live with a bold, new, limited-time event,” the post reads. “You won't want to miss out on the fun.” Plus, there’s a blurred-out image of what looks like some kind of port or ship or something.
And that’s really it on the subject. Fans are a bit disappointed to hear nothing else from it, but they still seem eager nevertheless.
So what could it mean? Players pointed out a while back that it looks similar to the famous “Jolly Roger” flag, a series of flag iterations featuring a skull and crossbones used during the pinnacle of pirating days by many ships. The black banner, which is used as a more common background to such, also tipped some players off.
The agreement wasn’t entirely there, though, as it turns out most of the human population sees skulls as a symbol adjacent to death. However, the blurred pic probably narrows it down a bit.
So what do you think it’ll be?
