Skull and Bones is finally coming out on February 16th, and Ubisoft is ramping things up, announcing open beta details and post-launch plans.

If you've been looking to try out Ubisoft Singapore’s pirate action RPG journey then you’re in luck soon. The open beta begins on February 8th On all platforms, with cross-play and cross-progression available. The game will launch on PC through the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Store, along with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Whichever way you want to enjoy the open beta, it will run until February 11th, and you can play until you reach an Infamy cap of tier 6. You can earn up to five rewards during the beta that include ship cosmetics, a special emote, a pet, and more.  You'll be able to take those into the game when it launches.

Speaking of launch, the team is so close to getting the game out the door that they’re talking post-launch plans. Not only that, they are plotting out year one, “Rise of the Kingpins” with four major seasonal updates. These will add new enemies to the Indian Ocean to challenge, along with new narratives. The first release will feature “ a pestilent pirate lord who rains poison from the sky”, Le Peste. Season two, “Chorus of Havoc” features the deadly Hubac twins. Season three, “Dragon’s Wake” and season four, “Shadows of the Deep” will get details later..

They are even revealing a little bit about the endgame after you’ve made your mark on the high seas. Early in the game, you start  shipwrecked and down on your luck. You can start trading early in the game or you can start plundering outposts to get your resources to go off and build ships, craft some of your weapons, and complete some contracts for rewards. One of the skills they point to is how to diversify your income. this way if you run into trouble on one end, you'll still have something coming in.

You can even engage in a PvPvE Hostile Takeover or something called a Legendary Heist, both of which are temporary world events that will spawn throughout the day. Hostile Takeovers Involve attacking an outpost that has a production chain while you defend yourself against enemy ships that are defending that outpost. if you succeed, you may be able to take over a manufacturer. Legendary Heists are also valuable for taking over manufacturers, but This challenges you to attack a merchant Convoy and transport all your stolen goods to a buyer, to earn control of the manufacturer. The twist is that it's a co-op event  until you have the stolen cargo and then it's a free-for-all, so you’d better watch your back.

See more over at Skull and Bones.
