Singularity 6 Formed By Former Riot Devs, Looks to Create MMO With a "Virtual Community"

In a report from Variety, it looks like Singularity 6, a start-up by former Riot Games developers, has secured $16.5 million in Series-A financing.

Founded in 2018 by Aidan Karabaich and Anthony Leung, they want to create a game focused on community where players, “can feel like they are valued and belong.”

According to Leung,

“We started Singularity 6 because we knew that games are significant on a personal level, they are more than mere entertainment, but rather a path to community, friendships and a real sense of belonging.”

Karabaich, via GamesIndustry.biz, had this to say,

“We want to build a future where games have a positive impact on our players and games are adding meaningfully to their lives in a positive way. Society is changing a lot with technology, and we think in the near future that means changes to how our culture and lifestyle affects us finding value and meaning and social fulfillment. We think that games play a key part in that fabric of our lifestyle..."
