Shutting Down; Roma Victor 2 Pushing Ahead

RedBedlam, the folks behind Roma Victor, have issued a letter to the community announcing that Roma Victor has not been profitable for some time, and as a result they will be winding down the game and shutting it down. There is some silver lining, however, as RedBedlam is still committed to developing Roma Victor 2, and will be pushing ahead on that project.

If the developers manage to finish and launch Roma Victor 2, character, equipment, and household data from the original game will be imported into the sequel as has apparently been promised in the past.

Read below for an excerpt of the letter:

As of 5th May 2010 RedBedlam will block purchases of new Roma Victor accounts. Six months later we'll stop taking any RV payments or donations and no further sesterces will be made available. Six months after that we'll shut the servers down and the original Roma Victor will closed for good.

Now, before people get too upset by this news I must stress that we haven't given up on "Roma Victor 2" by any means. We hope to complete the project according to a more realistic timeline, some time in 2011. But in the meantime we simply don't have the time or resources available to provide the level of communication and regular updates that this community expects of us during these intensive development phases.

For more information on the status of Roma Victor and Roma Victor 2, read the full letter here.
