Ship of Heroes has a new development update, covering October and November. Since the last recap, they've spent time on player experience and quality of life improvements, animation upgrades, and more.
The game’s tutorial is almost complete, “Many tutorial missions are boring. Ship of Heroes’ tutorial is part of the story and full of surprises in keeping with the rest of the game,” they tease. Even if you don’t think you need a tutorial, they recommend playing through it anyway.
Player experience improvements will now start at a personal difficulty setting for your adventures. The default is 0, but you can choose between -2 and +3. So ramp up the challenge or make things easier (or even more playable from an accessibility standpoint), But remember that if you join a team or a raid, the difficulty will be based on the leader’s setting.
Speaking of raids, the team has been doing work on raiding and working with testers to stress the servers and server-client infrastructure. Not only are they reporting reduced lag, there are some improvements, like raid markers now showing team leader and league leader in team colors. Your current team members are also shown, with your character getting a yellow frame around their health bar. These improvements should help with visibility and faster parsing of what's going on.
The crafting and trading area now gets a basic auction house where you can trade drops and crafted items. Crafted infusions and augments will be more powerful, so they're appealing trades. Animation upgrades have come to enemies. In the update blog, they show an example of how the Berserker has a new death animation that demonstrates how much it takes to kill him.
The Berserker invasion is going to need more testing, so Heroic Games is looking for additional testers. If you want to wade into that giant fight and see those death animations for yourself (under NDA), you can register for consideration if you've already registered as a tester.
