Ship of Heroes has shared a new monthly recap, diving into new additions to the game and community feedback on raids, new customization options, and more.
After the last update recapped 2023, the latest one shows off some new costume options, with a new Viking set for male, female, and big guy character types. Ship of Heroes is heading into 2024 with a few notable milestones last year, including a Steam beta in the fall, a new, upgraded server setup, more character and customization options, and of course, continued testing on brand new, and big, features.
The Viking costume came together when the team researched authentic biking outfits and armor made possible by Viking museums and their collections.
Much of the time when we think of Viking armor, we might have a different picture in our heads, heavily influenced by fictional works, but the team wanted to be a little more authentic. There are 10 recolor-able pieces for each body type, and include lots of detail, including authentic patterns and designs. Even mix and match them with other pieces to create something more unique.
The other big part of this recap concerns progress on raids. The team has been working on their big raid, including holding both simulations and then small internal playtests. These tests are covered by NDA, so there’s not much just yet, but they have developed a raid UI for 10 teams of 10 and have begun testing this. Team is still taking applications to become a tester if you're interested. They previously polled the community about raids and are still reviewing the hundreds of responses they received in order to continue development on their raids.
