Shards No More, Legends of Aria is a Full-Fledged MMORPG

Shards Online is no more! Well, not quite. It's just changing names to Legends of Aria and ditching the "small server setup" for a thousands of players in one massive world. It'll be open PVP, with full loot, but also with plenty of safe places for fans of PVE and crafting. So, kind of like EVE Online meets Darkfall, then.

Citadel Studios is also adding mounts, archery, and a whole lot more to the game in the coming months. So if the small, player-run servers had you worried, fret not... Shards Online is shaping up to be the Ultima Online successor we hoped for.

Take a look at the brand new teaser trailer for the demo being shown at PAX East 2017 at the Indie Megabooth:

To see out how big the world of Celador is about to become, in the comparison map below. The big one? That's the new world in Legends of Aria. The little one in the lower right? That's the world of Shards Online.

Shards Online and its smaller map will remain online and playable for all pledges as a sort of "technical Alpha" for Legends of Aria while the new world is polished up and primed for Steam early access. So you can still play and test things out while they ready the new "full-fledged MMORPG" Legends of Aria.

Take a look at the new website: Legends of Aria.
