Bungie announced their Solstice of Heroes event will return to Destiny 2 in 2019, beginning on July 30 through August 27. Meanwhile Shadowkeep is delayed.

Regarding Shadowkeep, Bungie's Luke Smith tweeted out the following, citing additional development time would benefit the latest Destiny 2 expansion, which will now release on October 1:

He went on to state his intentions to publish a State of the Game later next week to provide additional updates behind the scenes. Additionally, Bungie provided the following updates:

  • The World First for the new Raid Garden of Salvation will begin on Saturday, October 5. It’s a weekend Raid race and Contest will be active
  • We’re extending Moments of Triumph through September 17 – you’ll have three more weeks to complete this year’s challenges and unlock all of the in-game and Bungie rewards
  • We’re going to run an additional Iron Banner the week of September 17 as well
  • Cross Save will come online later this Summer, so you’ll have time to sort out your Friend Lists well ahead of Shadowkeep

If you wish to partake in Solstice of Heroes, first visit Eva Levante near the Statue of Heroes in the Tower. For each day during the event, one of three elements will be featured: Solar, Arc, and Void.

“Elemental kills will award you with Elemental Orbs. Picking up these orbs will let you complete objectives to upgrade your armor. You can create whatever orbs you need for the objectives you are working to achieve. You can also collect 30 orbs that match the daily element to apply an elemental buff for a brief time.”

These buffs will not be active in Competitive and Gambit Prime. Some additional details include:

SOLAR ELEMENTAL BUFF

  • Equip your Solar subclass and weapons to generate Solar orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a burning wave of energy that damages anything around them.

VOID ELEMENTAL BUFF

  • Equip your Void subclass and weapons to generate Void orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Void elemental power. Crouch while empowered to become invisible and gain Truesight plus enhanced ability regeneration.

ARC ELEMENTAL BUFF

  • Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc orbs. Then, collect them to wield their Arc elemental power. While empowered, Guardians move with enhanced speed and deal greater melee and Sword damage.

A new matchmade activity will take you to a new zone in, dubbed European Aerial Zone (EAZ), where you will be tasked with defeating as many minibosses until time expires. Once it does so, you’ll face off against a final boss and obtain treasure. The more minibosses you kill, the more treasure chests await.

Any Solstice of Heroes armor sets will also need to be upgraded from “Drained” Uncommon state to their “Renewed” Rare state. Once you do so, you’ll receive a “Majestic” Legendary set. In order to upgrade your armor, you’ll need to complete objectives for each armor piece before moving on to the next armor set. Masterwork will have its own set of objectives.
