Nexon's upcoming co-op looter shooter, The First Descendant, finally announced a release date during today's Summer Game Fest 2024 showcase.

The First Descendant will launch on PC, Xbox Series S|X, and PlayStation 5 on July 2nd, bringing its next-gen looter shooter to the fray. The third person, co-op looter shooter boasts high-quality visuals thanks to running on Unreal Engine 5. Players take the role of a Descendant to fight off aliens invading the world of Albion.

Nexon teased the release date last week via a trailer, and today, during Summer Game Fest, a new trailer showcases gameplay of Descendants dropping into a warzone and tackling The Vulgus head-on.

The First Descendant has had quite a few playtests since it was announced as Project Magnum years ago. The most recent test, which took place late last month, seemed to be a hit, with producer Lee Beom-jun thanking players for helping the studio prep for its global launch. Well, it seems that launch is less than a month away now.

As far as what to expect at launch, Nexon didn't share any real details other than to tell us in a press release that more information would be coming in the next few weeks as the team preps to flip the live service switch to "on." They also teased creator and media previews, so there is something for Descendants to look forward to before they drop into the fray themselves this July.

You can wishlist The First Descendant on Steam today, before the July 2nd release date.
