New World’s Season of the Guardian has an updated launch date - April 2nd. The new season was previously delayed for additional work. Amazon is also merging some servers this week, ahead of the next big update.
After delaying the new season earlier this month for some additional work following feedback and data from the PTR, Season of the Guardian will now go live on Tuesday, April 2nd. The team thanked everyone for their patience while they brought the update under development and promised that we’ll see full release notes by the end of this week.
The team is preparing for the new season with a few server merges. Announcing the decision on Discord and via social media, the merge affects just seven servers, with five of them in the EU region and two in US-East.
Asgard and Canis in EU will both merge into Aaru, Bari and Abaton will both merge into Nysa, while Nyx merges into Kronos. In US-East, Castle of Steel will merge into Valhalla, and Octans will merge into Maramma. The merges will happen this week, following some downtime held on Friday to prepare the affected servers, disable transfers, cancel Wars and refund players. After that housekeeping on Friday, the merges will happen on Wednesday, March 27th.
It’s no surprise that these server merge choices look to help with population on some of the servers, especially with the big update coming. In the merge announcement, the team said, “These changes are designed to enrich your adventures, offering more selections in the Trading Post, a wider pool of company recruits, challenging PvP encounters, and companions for your quests”.
Season of the Guardian is set to bring a completely overhauled combat and animation system, via what they call Slayer Script, add controller support, new Artifacts, a brand new seasonal story and quests, improved fishing, a Cooking skill overhaul, and more.
