At BlizzCon 2023, the World of Warcraft community received some great news when Executive Producer Holly Longdale unveiled the latest chapter for World of Warcraft Classic: the Season of Discovery. This new seasonal experience will change the classic gameplay with some new features and twists, encouraging players to embark on a novel journey of within their beloved realm of Azeroth.

According to Blizzard, the Season of Discovery, which is headed to players on November 30th, will revolutionize the World of Warcraft Classic landscape by introducing new features and unique rulesets that will change how players obtain abilities. Longdale states that their will be some class-altering changes where players can create tanking Warlock healing  Mages, and those are just some of the multitude of class changes awaiting players. The adventure begins with a level cap of 25, challenging players to reach the maximum level to unlock a novel endgame, including a reimagined 10-player raid in the depths of Blackfathom Deeps. This raid is not just a simple retread of familiar grounds; it boasts new bosses, mechanics, and rewards designed to test the mettle of adventurers.

The Season of Discovery is not a static experience; it will evolve with incremental increases to the level cap, unlocking a new end-game experience as you grow over the course of the season. To further enhance the theme of discovery, the game will scatter special runes across Azeroth, and many of these runes will grant new abilities that haven’t been available before to Classic players. In addition, Rune-engraving will allow players to inscribe these runes and swap abilities outside of combat, promoting a spirit of experimentation that will fundamentally shift the way Classic players are playing.

For competitive players, Season of Discovery will also see the introduction of world PvP events, adding another layer of excitement to the gameplay. Each level cap increase will unlock a new zone where players can test their combat prowess (or lack thereof) against one another.. The first PvP zone to be unveiled will be in the contested territories of Ashenvale, where players can engage in thrilling battles and showcase their unique abilities.

If you’ve been a Classic player for some time, then you absolutely won’t want to miss the Season of Discovery which is clearly shaping up to be a unique experience for World of Warcraft Classic players.
