The collaboration event between Sea of Thieves and The Legend of Monkey Island begins today, with the first part, The Journey to Mêlée Island. The narrative-focused update is live now, bringing favorite characters like Guybrush Threepwood and Captain LeChuck into the fold.
You’ll be able to visit locations from the Monkey Island series as you search for Guybrush Threepwood. He’s featured in the launch trailer for the update, along with some of the other locations and characters that will be important on this journey.
“Your voyage to Mêlée Island will carry you on a quest to locate Guybrush Threepwood, last seen setting course for the Sea of Thieves. Guybrush now believes himself to be the mightiest pirate who ever lived – and everyone else seems to be labouring under this mysterious misconception too.”
LeChuck’s threat is there too, so It gives you an idea of some of what we can expect from the first of the three chapters of this collaborative event.
In the update, we get more of an idea of the first of the three Tall Tales to come. Since Guybrush vanished heading to the Sea of Thieves, now your pirate will become involved to try and unravel the mysteries happening.
With the arrival of this collaboration, Sea of Thieves is also adding some new items and cosmetics to the shop. You will be able to get things like the Piranha Poodle pet, the rocket seagull emote, and for the LeChuck fans –a Legacy ship collection, Legacy ship’s crest, weapon bundle, and even a LeChuck costume. There are also some new cosmetics available out Outpost weaponsmiths.
To mark the arrival of the first chapter, there is a new emote available for all in the Pirate Emporium. Pick up the Spin and Shoot emote for free there.
