Sea of Thieves is still looking for winners of its Hoarder’s Hunt mystery, but the team is looking ahead to the next collaboration event on the way. The team announced a new crossover with The Legend of Monkey Island.

The Sea of Thieves team has  a deep love for the Monkey Island franchise, and those who have been paying attention may have noticed the Easter eggs they've sprinkled throughout some of the content, especially in Sea of Thieves: A Pirate's Life. Rare has partnered with Lucasfilm Games to bring a Monkey Island collaboration to Sea of Thieves this summer.

The announcement came with a trailer for the collaboration, and some details as to what we can expect from this partnership. Three brand new Tall Tales will arrive and you'll get to tour and explore locations like Mêlée Island and even meet and interact with characters like Guybrush Threepwood.

You’ll have to “solve puzzles, tussle with adversaries and tackle unexpected trials as you strive to put right situations that have gone bizarrely wrong and confront a looming peril born of powers from both worlds”. All in a long pirate's day of work.

Entering the locations, you'll also get to discover how the places are connected through a special feature experience in the content, featuring some of the humor that both Monkey Island and Sea of Thieves are known for. This crossover still has a lot of details yet to be revealed, but the first of the new Tall Tales will arrive on July 20th and the event content will be free to all Sea of Thieves players.

There will be three updates encompassing the full event, but expect to find out more from the rare team over the next month as we get closer to the first of the crossover updates.

See the announcement over at Sea of  Thieves.
