Sea of Thieves has re-enabled crouching and has started addressing some of Season 14’s issues in the latest hotfixes. This comes after most of Season 14’s highlight features, intended to add lots of stealth gameplay options to the seas, were disabled following exploitation and bugs.
The Rare team is working on the issues, and in this latest hotfix, re-enabled crouching, with future updates on the way to keep addressing the major issues that temporarily derailed Season 14’s marquee features. Yes you can switch from standing to a low crouch, which will slow down your movement and conceal you from some nearby threats, hide your player name and essentially let you sneak around. Additional defense from couching comes from being harder to hit and some reduction in knockback effects.
For those who try to crouch after being fired from a cannon or before climbing into a cannon, or after falling from a great height will find the exploits where you suffered less damage have been fixed.
Other issues have also been addressed in this hotfix, fixing things like the definitely taken advantage of issue that let you shoot other players through solid surfaces, including the deck of the ship. you'll also not be able to walk directly through enemy threats. You'll now also have to fulfill all of the required conditions to unlock disguises instead of getting them earlier with partial completion. Disguises are still unavailable for use though.
Most of the stealth features, including traps, hanging from ledges, and disguises are still temporarily disabled until they work through how to address the issues. The Sea of Thieves team’s recent announcements on the issues have them considering all of the issues and features carefully, and crouching’s return is a start.
There are also a number of stability improvements, and bug fixes, as well as localization updates for Season 14 items.
